Job summary

PAWSitive Veterinary, a Brooklyn-based small animal practice, is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced team. You will assist with anesthesia, surgical monitoring, radiography, and patient care, while communicating treatment plans to clients and maintaining accurate medical records.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of professional experience, a valid VT license, and a commitment to high standards of care.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician with active license required.
  • Minimum 2+ years professional experience.
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring preferred; high focus on assisted surgeries.
  • Punctuality and reliability in adherence to shifts.
  • Availability to work Saturdays.
  • Excellent client communication and medical records management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
  • Proficiency in sample collection methods (blood, urine, fecal, skin).
  • Experience in radiographic positioning; dental radiography a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Restrain pets and triage incoming patients.
  • Collect and analyze lab samples.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging and anesthetic management.
  • Assist with surgeries and monitor anesthesia.
  • Communicate treatment plans to clients.
  • Maintain medical records and hospital documentation.
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized cases.

  • Monday - Friday: 9am - 6pm
  • Saturday: 9am - 3pm

Job Description
Job Duties

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
  • A Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 2+ year professional experience required.
  • Previous professional experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring is heavily preferred; this position will have a high focus on assisting with surgeries.
    • The right candidate will be comfortable with all aspects of surgical procedures.
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts.
  • Availability to work Saturdays.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques.
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens.
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus.
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards.

Pay Range

$35 - $40/hr. depending on level of experience
