Job description

Licensed Veterinary Technician, Cardiology

The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to serve the needs of the Cardiology Department and support our mission of delivering world-class care to our patients.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide compassionate care for patients from admission through discharge.
  2. Support veterinarians in all aspects of care, including interpreting and executing treatment plans.
  3. Perform technical procedures and treatments following department and hospital protocols.
  4. Communicate professionally with clients and referral veterinarians.
  5. Keep accurate records of treatment progress and charges.
  6. Maintain stock, order supplies, and assist with cleanliness of the ward.
  7. Participate in training new employees and volunteers.
  8. Engage in educational and research projects.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • NY State Veterinary Technician’s license (or permit) with experience in general practice and anesthesia.
  • Ability to handle and restrain all animal species.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfort with bending, kneeling, and getting wet while assisting with restraint.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Follow detailed instructions and protocols.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours as needed.
  • Experience in cardiology is preferred but not required.
