Westside Veterinary Hospital in Mobile, AL seeks a dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician. You will support veterinarians, handle triage, perform imaging and lab work, and provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license is required
  • 1+ year of professional experience preferred but not required
  • Strong client communication and medical record management skills
  • Proficiency in safe animal restraint and handling during exams and procedures
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture; dental radiography a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced veterinary setting with attention to detail

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team! In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality care to our animal patients while supporting our veterinarians and clients.

  • Assist in the triage of incoming patients, assessing their condition and prioritizing care
  • Restrain and handle animals safely during examinations and procedures
  • Collect and analyze laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and tissue specimens
  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-rays and ultrasounds
  • Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians
  • Communicate treatment plans effectively with pet owners, ensuring they understand care instructions
  • Prepare animals and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Assist in anesthetic management during surgeries
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure optimal patient care

Qualifications
  • A Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required

  • Availability to work some weekend shifts

  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learningAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
