Job summary

Crossroads Animal Hospital & Pet Resort in Jackson, MI is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our AAHA-accredited team. You will perform outpatient care, anesthesia, dentistry, radiology, lab work, and client education in a low-stress hospital setting.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and committed to clinical excellence, with at least 1 year of clinical veterinary experience and an active Michigan LVT license.

Qualifications

  • Active LVT license in Michigan required.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical veterinary experience preferred.
  • Proficient in anesthesia, dentistry, lab work and restraint.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications, vaccines, and fluids as directed.
  • Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia.
  • Provide surgical support and maintain aseptic technique.
  • Perform dental cleanings, radiographs, and post-op care.
  • Take and process diagnostic imaging (radiographs).
  • Collect, prepare, and process lab samples (blood, urine, cytology).
  • Maintain treatment plans and monitor hospitalized patients.
  • Respond to emergencies and pain management needs.
  • Educate clients on diagnoses, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Assist with estimates and medical counseling.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) who is passionate about patient care, client communication, and teamwork. In this role, you'll be entrusted with technical and nursing responsibilities including outpatient care, surgery, dentistry, radiology, anesthesia, laboratory diagnostics, and client education. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and committed to clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical & Technical Duties:
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and fluid therapies
  • Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia
  • Provide surgical support and maintain aseptic technique
  • Perform dental cleanings, dental radiographs, and post-op care
  • Take and process diagnostic imaging (radiographs)
  • Collect, prepare, and process lab samples (blood, urine, cytology, etc.)
  • Maintain patient treatment plans and monitor hospitalized patients
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations and pain management needs
Client Service & Communication:
  • Educate clients on diagnoses, medications, preventative care, and treatment plans
  • Provide discharge instructions and follow-up calls
  • Assist with estimates, medical counseling, and routine callbacks
  • Demonstrate empathy, tact, and professionalism in all client interactions
Administrative & Support Duties:
  • Maintain accurate and compliant medical records (Cornerstone experience is a plus)
  • Follow protocols for controlled substance handling, OSHA safety, and AAHA standards
  • Support front desk as needed (phone calls, scheduling, reminders, invoicing)
  • Train and mentor assistants and technician students as needed
Requirements:
  • Active LVT license in the state of Michigan
  • 1+ year experience in a clinical veterinary setting preferred
  • Proficient in anesthesia, dentistry, lab work, and restraint techniques
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and be on your feet for most of the shift
