Waukee Clive Veterinary Clinic is seeking a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Hospital Location:

15151 Hickman Rd., Clive, Iowa 50325

Shift Details:

(4) 10-hour weekday shifts

Compensation:

$25-28/hr

Job Summary:

The Registered Veterinary Technician provides leadership and training to support staff in a small animal facility, following hospital policies and procedures, and delivers medical care to patients as permitted by the veterinary practice act. The technician will communicate effectively with team members and clients, with great attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and uphold MVP's core values and mission statement.
  • Guide support staff to ensure smooth shift operations.
  • Mentor team members for career and personal development.
  • Contribute to performance evaluations with the hospital manager.
  • Provide patient care under the supervision of a DVM.
  • Maintain excellent client communication.
  • Accurately record medical, client, and case information in patient records.
  • Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.
  • Answer client questions confidently and refer to veterinarians when appropriate.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
  • Ability to remain patient and composed in stressful and fast-paced situations.
  • Capable of giving SQ, IM, and IV injections.
  • Knowledge of prescription drugs, their dosages, side effects, and client communication.
  • Understanding of anesthesia and recovery processes, alerting veterinarians to concerns.
  • Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature, and recover patients from anesthesia.
  • Strong reasoning, memory, mathematics, and language skills in English.
  • Confident around pets.
