Job summary

Grass Lakes Animal Hospital in Grass Lake, Michigan, seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our friendly team. You’ll cuddle stressed animals, assist with exams and surgeries, take vitals, and help with lab work in a welcoming clinic.

Starting pay is $24.00 per hour for LVTs, with a sign-on bonus up to $1,000 based on licensure and experience. Perks include uniform allowance, PTO and sick time, and pet-care discounts in a drama-free environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Animal Care or related field is a plus.
• Licensed in MI and in good standing with the board for LVTs.
• Previous experience in veterinary or animal care setting.

Responsibilities

• Cuddle stressed-out critters as part of care.
• Take vitals and assist during exams and procedures.
• Assist doctors with surgeries and administer medications.
• Collect and process lab samples (blood, urine, feces).
• Handle scheduling and phone inquiries; educate pet parents.

About The Role

We’re on the hunt for a Licensed Veterinary Technician or an Experienced Veterinary Assistant who doesn’t mind a little fur on their scrubs and knows the difference between a pit bull and a porcupine (important). You’ll work alongside veterinarians and fellow animal lovers to:

• Cuddle stressed-out critters (yes, it’s a job requirement)
• Keep exam rooms clean and stocked- because no one wants to search for the thermometer after the patient arrives
• Take vitals and assist during exams and procedures
• Assist Doctors with surgeries
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Collect and process laboratory samples such as blood, urine, and feces
• Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and answering phones
• Educate pet parents without using too much Latin
• Provide TLC to both four-legged and two-legged clients

Who You Are

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in Animal Care or related field is a plus.
• Licensed in the state of MI and in good standing with the board for all LVTs
• Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting is a must.
• Physical ability to lift and handle animals of varying sizes
• You’re not squeamish (because things will ooze)
• You know how to keep your cool during a Chihuahua tantrum
• You’re a team player with a strong stomach and a soft heart
• Bonus points if you can do all this while holding a cup of coffee
