Gibraltar Veterinary Hospital in Gibraltar, MI, is seeking a Part‑Time Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our collaborative team. If you enjoy high‑quality patient care and working with veterinarians, we’d love to meet you!
Located at 29503 W. Jefferson Ave., Gibraltar, MI 48173, this part‑time position offers 2–3 days per week with rotating Saturdays and a competitive hourly rate of $25–$30.
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential.
- Proficient in venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
- Comfortable with patient restraint and low-stress handling.
- Strong knowledge of vaccination protocols and preventative care.
- Proficient in medication administration, including oral, injectable and subcutaneous medications.
- Comfortable collecting and processing laboratory samples.
- Familiar with in-house laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing.
- Able to monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
- Strong understanding of normal canine and feline vital signs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to multitask and prioritize in a busy hospital environment.
- Dependable, compassionate and committed to quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Performing venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
- Collecting, preparing and running laboratory samples.
- Administering medications, vaccinations and treatments as directed.
- Performing subcutaneous and intravenous fluid therapy.
- Obtaining and monitoring patient vital signs.
- Assisting veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics and treatments.
- Providing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography.
- Assisting with surgical preparation, anesthesia and patient monitoring.
- Monitoring patients throughout anesthesia and recovery.
- Performing appropriate anesthetic calculations and monitoring.
- Preparing surgical instruments and maintaining sterile technique.
- Providing post‑operative patient care.
- Performing and interpreting in‑house diagnostics, including cytology.
- Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
- Educating clients regarding medications, nutrition, preventatives and follow‑up care.
- Providing compassionate, Fear Free patient handling.
- Maintaining a clean, organized and safe treatment environment.
- Supporting the veterinary team wherever your technical expertise is needed.

We’re looking for an LVT with 2-4 years of veterinary experience who is confident working in a busy hospital and ready to utilize their technical skills.

As an LVT, you’ll play an important role in providing hands‑on medical care and supporting the veterinarians throughout the day. Responsibilities may include:

- Graduate of an AVMA‑accredited Veterinary Technician program.
- A current state veterinary technician license in good standing.
- Proficiency in a range of technical skills, including nursing, surgery, dental care, radiology, and laboratory procedures.
- A calm and efficient approach, especially in fast‑paced or stressful situations.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively.
- One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.
