Job summary

Animal Wellness Center in Crozet, VA seeks a licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our compassionate, patient‑centered team. You’ll support veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, anesthesia, and nursing care while educating clients and ensuring best practices.

Qualifications

  • Current Virginia Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential or eligibility for licensure.
  • Previous veterinary experience preferred.
  • Strong technical nursing and patient care skills.
  • Excellent communication and client education skills.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, collaborative team player.
  • Comfortable working evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, laboratory procedures, and other technical nursing skills within your credentialed scope of practice.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and provide compassionate nursing care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Safely handle and restrain dogs, cats, and exotic pets (experience with exotics is a plus).
  • Process laboratory samples and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Educate clients on medications, preventive care, prescription diets, wellness plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Reinforce veterinarian recommendations and promote exceptional client communication.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment area, pharmacy, exam rooms, and patient wards.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical instruments and equipment.
  • Collaborate with doctors, technicians, assistants, and client service representatives to provide outstanding patient care.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the hospital and patient care.

Here is What Your day May Consist of:

As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, you'll play an integral role in delivering exceptional patient care while supporting our veterinarians, clients, and fellow team members.
