Job summary

Lowcountry Vets is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license to join our compassionate team. We operate four locations and handle a broad caseload in a supportive hospital setting.

You will perform animal restraint, collect samples, assist in imaging and anesthesia, manage medical records, and communicate treatment plans to clients. Some Saturday shifts and a strong commitment to animal welfare are essential.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license required.
  • 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong client communication and medical record management skills.
  • Commitment to animal welfare and continuing education.

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, and nursing care.
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples, imaging, anesthesia monitoring.
  • Communication of treatment plans with clients and surgical prep assistance.

Job description

Our hours of operation:
  • Monday - Friday: 8 am - 6 pm
  • Our Old Town location is open on Saturday from 8 am - 3 pm.
  • We are closed on Sundays
Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

We’re Looking For:
  • A Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Some Saturday shift availability
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
