Job summary

Central Veterinary Hospital is a locally owned veterinary hospital in Knoxville dedicated to compassionate patient care. We seek an LVMT who will provide nursing care, anesthesia monitoring, and collaborative support to our veterinarians and team.

The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, dependable, and eager to contribute to a variety of medical, surgical, dental, and emergency cases while fostering a positive, patient-focused hospital culture.

Qualifications

• Current Tennessee LVMT license in good standing.
• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program.
• Strong anesthesia monitoring, nursing, and patient care skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; team player.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, patient assessments, and treatment administration.
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and diagnostic testing.
• Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical and dental procedures.
• Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiography per state regulations.
• Obtain diagnostic imaging including radiographs.
• Administer medications and monitor hospitalized patients.
• Educate clients on preventive care and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Mentor Veterinary Assistants and support team development.

Responsibilities

As an LVMT, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality medical care and supporting our veterinarians and healthcare team by:

• Providing nursing care, patient assessments, and treatment administration

• Performing venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and diagnostic testing

• Monitoring anesthesia and assisting with surgical and dental procedures

• Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography in accordance with state regulations

• Obtaining diagnostic imaging, including radiographs

• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians

• Monitoring hospitalized patients and communicating patient status updates to veterinarians

• Educating clients on preventive care, medications, treatment plans, and post-operative care

• Maintaining accurate patient records and treatment documentation

• Assisting with emergency and urgent care cases as needed

• Ensuring proper care, maintenance, and sterilization of medical equipment

• Mentoring Veterinary Assistants and supporting the development of less experienced team members

• Helping maintain a positive, collaborative, and patient-focused hospital culture

Qualifications

• Current Tennessee Veterinary Technician license (LVMT) in good standing

• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program

• Strong technical, anesthesia monitoring, and patient care skills

• Previous clinical experience in a veterinary hospital preferred

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
