Responsibilities

• Use professional locating equipment to track the drill head underground.
• Communicate real‑time depth, pitch, and direction to the drill operator.
• Ensure the bore stays within approved alignment and depth tolerances.
• Prevent utility strikes by maintaining safe clearances.
• Walk the bore path ahead of the drill and identify obstacles.
• Confirm entry and exit points match the approved bore plan.
• Mark the bore path and maintain constant visual control of alignment.
• Assist with potholing and exposing utilities when required.
• Help set up pits and maintain compliant work zones.
• Support the drill operator and ground crew as needed.
