Job summary

Hope Haven of East Texas in Tyler, TX seeks a Therapist to provide in-person therapy for teenagers in foster care at GRO. Services include individual, family, and group counseling, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention.

You will collaborate with DFPS teams, develop treatment and discharge plans, and participate in after-hours on-call duties as needed. Licensure preferred (LPC/LMFT/LCSW); LMSW or intern considered; trauma-informed approach essential.

Qualifications

  • Licensure preferred – LPC, LMFT OR LCSW. Will consider LMSW or LPC Intern or LMFT
  • Associate with experience and working towards licensure. Must provide own supervisor for licensure.
  • Experience counseling individuals, groups and family
  • Must have training and experience with a trauma-informed model and crisis intervention
  • Minimum five years’ experience working with adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges preferred
  • Ability to work with high need clients including those with co-occurring disorders, complex trauma history, etc.
  • Strong client engagement skills
  • Excellent organization skills, detail oriented
  • Highly flexible and able to adapt to changing job environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Experience with the Department of Family Protective Services preferred
  • Certification in TBRI, EMDR and TF-CBT preferred but not required
  • Willingness to obtain additional requested certifications/skills to achieve best practice at the GRO
  • Child & Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) Assessment Certified, preferred

Job description

Job Title: Therapist Reports To: Treatment Director Summary: Provides in-person therapy services that specifically address and support the mental health of teenage children in foster care living at the Group Residential Operation (GRO). Services to include psychoeducation, individual and group counseling, family counseling and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities:
Clinical
  • Provide therapy services (individual, family, and group counseling) for teens that address their social/behavioral/mental health issues
  • Possess or be willing to gain certification in TBRI, EMDR and TF-CBT
  • Create treatment and discharge planning at intake
  • Assist with after hours on-call status, which will include availability by phone and could include being present at the GRO at nights and on weekends, in certain instances
  • Actively participate in clinical case staffing
  • Perform other program duties that may arise as requested
  • Ensure continuity of care by communicating and collaborating weekly with the child’s DFPS legal team education team/school and internal case workers/direct care staff.

Administrative
  • Meet productivity requirements established by Treatment Director
  • Enter therapeutic documentation into ExtendedReach and other designated electronic health record systems in a timely manner
  • Maintain positive relationships and consistent level of professionalism with outside agencies and referral sources
  • Communicate and consult with co-workers/team and outside agencies as needed
  • Work with Treatment Director to ensure program compliance with all of the Texas Minimum Standards for Group Residential Operations
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops at Hope Haven of East Texas and outside locations as requested
  • Other duties as assigned
