Job summary

St. Peter's Health Partners is seeking a Licensed Senior Security Officer for Samaritan Hospital on a part-time night shift.

The role requires armed security presence, threat assessment, and coordination with law enforcement to safeguard staff, patients, and visitors across SPHP campuses. Candidate must hold a NYS Armed Security Guard license (with firearms training) and a valid NYS Driver's License, plus a minimum of five years in armed security, healthcare security, or law enforcement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NYS Driver's License required.
• Unexpired NYS Armed Security Guard License (includes firearms training).
• Minimum of five years Armed Security Guard experience.
• Five years Healthcare/Hospital security OR five years Law Enforcement experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NY Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law.
• Knowledge of use of force continuum and its private security application.
• Active police officer certification; must obtain NYS Armed Security Guard license within 6 months of hire.
• Pass approved Trinity Firearms training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide armed, uniformed security presence across SPHP campuses at night.
• Assess threats and respond to incidents to protect colleagues, patients, visitors and others.
• Coordinate with law enforcement as needed based on threat assessment and offenses.
• Perform duties and submit reports to Lead Security Officer and SPHP leadership.

Under the direction of the Lead Security Officer, is responsible for the performance of all security and safety duties as assigned. Provide armed, uniformed Security presence throughout SPHP campuses. Senior Security Officers will assess threats, provide immediate response to, and mitigate offenses against public order, life and safety of colleagues, staff, patients, visitors and others on and within the buildings and grounds of SPHP. Offenses or events requiring investigation and thorough reporting will be made and submitted to Lead Security Officer and other SPHP Leadership. Coordination with law enforcement agencies based on threat assessment and offenses. Pick up hours as the need arises, at our Acute care facilities, other than primary work location.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED Certificate required.
• Valid NYS Drivers License.
• Unexpired NYS Armed Security Guard License (includes firearms training and a valid NYS pistol permit).
• Minimum of five years Armed Security Guard experience.
• Five (5) years Healthcare/ Hospital security or five (5) years Law Enforcement experience preferred.
• Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of the New York State Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law.
• Knowledge and understanding of the use of force continuum and it's application within a private security setting.

• Active police officer certification; active police officers required to obtain NYS Armed Security Guard license within 6 months of hire.

• P ass approved Trinity Firearms training and qualification course within 30 days of hire.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $35.70

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
