Job Description:

This position is for a Special Education Teacher at JTC Academy, a Therapeutic Day School specializing in creating a nurturing environment for students with special needs. The role involves developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), using technology for instruction, and fostering a positive classroom environment.

Licensure:

If you are an out-of-state Special Ed Teacher, we will pay for your licensure in Illinois. If you are a General Ed Teacher, we will pay for the four courses needed for Special Ed LBS-1 certification with a signed contract. Teaching bonuses are available for LBS-1 teachers for the 2021-22 year.

Longevity Benefits:

After 5 years as an LBS-1 teacher, JTC Academy offers monthly student loan repayment up to the maximum allowable amount. After 3 years of successful employment, current insurance premiums paid by the employee will be reimbursed by the academy. The requirements include being an LBS-1 for the entire period.

Summary of Duties:

• Teach using technology throughout the school day.
• Develop strategies to meet individual IEP goals, documenting progress.
• Instruct in academic subjects following curriculum and IEPs.
• Write and adhere to IEPs and deadlines.
• Implement behavior plans and maintain student portfolios.
• Use curriculum maps and motivate students therapeutically.
• Maintain classroom discipline and responsibilities for teacher assistants.
• Follow behavior management systems and contribute to behavior plan revisions.
• Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to school policies.
• Collaborate positively with colleagues and administration.
