The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist to provide direct therapeutic services in an outpatient psychiatry clinic within an academic medical center.

The position reports to the Clinic Medical Director and handles a complex caseload with psychosocial assessment, active treatment, case management, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a social work or social welfare program accredited by the CSWE (Council on Social Work Education).
• Current licensure by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners or the South Carolina Board for Licensure of Professional Counselors required.
• Preferred LISW, LPC, or LMFT experience in outpatient therapy.

Responsabilités

• Provides individual and group therapy to adults in an outpatient community psychiatry clinic.
• Performs psychosocial assessments, documents treatment plans, and coordinates care with a multidisciplinary team.
• Interviews clients, families, and providers to evaluate functioning and treatment needs.
• Completes administrative duties related to patient care and documentation.

Job Description Summary

The Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist reports directly to the Clinic Medical Director. Provide a wide variety of direct therapeutic social worker services in an outpatient psychiatric setting for a complex caseload of patients including psychosocial assessment, active treatment, case management, and related documentation in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary treatment team.

Required Minimum Training and Education

Master’s degree in a social work or social welfare program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or from a social work program or social welfare program offered by a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred experience

Previous LISW, LPC, or LMFT experience providing outpatient therapy preferred. Hospital experience in the area of Psychiatry is preferred.

Degree of Supervision

This position will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

Current applicable licensure by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners or South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors required.

Job Duties/Tasks

• 50% - Provides individual and group therapy to adult patients in an outpatient community psychiatry treatment clinic located within an academic medical center.
• 35% - Interviews client, family and any other providers to assess the patient’s level of functioning, strengths and deficits, and emotional status. Develops a comprehensive picture of the client’s service and treatment needs.
• 5% - Serves as a member of the treatment team in the diagnostic evaluation of clients and the identification of treatment objectives.
• 10% - Completes all administrative duties as required.

Physical Requirements

Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
