Job summary

Sylvania in Scranton seeks a Licensed Social Worker/LPC to provide direct and indirect social work services to students with social, emotional, or behavioral needs, coordinating with families and community providers.

You will collaborate with teachers and parents, develop and implement behavior plans, offer short-term counseling, and document progress while aligning with Act 93 guidelines and required billable hours.

Qualifications

  • PA Licensed Social Worker Certification or PA Licensed LPC Certification, or a related degree/certification.
  • Qualified to work within a K-12 setting.
  • 3-5 years working within an educational setting with a focus on social-emotional behavioral supports (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with mental health and/or learning problems such as ADHD, ODD, or social problems.
  • Intervene and provide immediate guidance to students who disrupt classroom activities or exhibit violent behavior.
  • Assist teachers and parents in developing and implementing behavior management plans across settings.
  • Help students improve academic, personal, and social functioning.
  • Provide social skills, anger management, stress reduction or other similar instruction to students.
  • Provide short-term individual and group counseling to students with social/emotional/behavioral challenges.
  • Assist students with social and learning challenges, reinforcing correct behavior through positive reinforcement.
  • Establish prevention programs and crisis intervention plans for students.
  • Assist in creating and modifying individualized behavior support/intervention plans.
  • Maintain documentation for monitoring student progress.
  • Maintain a schedule for direct work with students and submit billable hours via ACCESS.
  • Support parent training as part of a team to facilitate supportive strategies at home and in the community.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, teachers, and administrators.

Job Title: Licensed Social Worker/ LPC

Salary: Consistent with Act 93 Agreement

Reports to: Supervisor of Mental Health Programs

Hours: Contractual hours: 7:45 am – 3:15 pm (not to exceed 40 hours) 185 days

Building: As assigned by Supervisor

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Licensed Social Worker/LPC will provide direct and indirect social work services to students experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral problems that interfere with their performance in school, and will facilitate communication among school, home and community providers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assist students with mental health and/or learning problems such as attention deficit disorder, oppositional defiance disorder, or social problems, including victimization of domestic or sexual abuse.
  2. Intervene and offer immediate guidance to students who disrupt classroom activities or show violent behavior toward teachers and/or toward other students.
  3. Assist teachers and parents in developing and implementing behavior management plans to remediate problem behaviors across settings.
  4. Assist students to improve their academic, personal, and social functioning.
  5. Provide social skills, anger management, stress reduction or other similar instruction to students who are experiencing social/emotional/behavioral problems that interfere with their learning or the ability of others to learn.
  6. Provides short-term individual and group counseling to students who are experiencing social/emotional/behavioral problems that interfere with their learning or the ability of others to learn.
  7. Assist students with social and learning challenges, and help students develop and reinforce correct behavior through systematic positive behavior reinforcement.
  8. Establish prevention programs and crisis intervention plans to help these students.
  9. Assist in the creation and modification of individualized behavior support/intervention plans
  10. Maintain documentation for purposes of monitoring student progress.
  11. Maintain a schedule for direct work with students. Submit billable hours via ACCESS.
  12. Support parent training as a part of a team, to facilitate the use of appropriate supportive strategies within the home and community settings.
  13. Maintain regular communication with parents, teachers, and administrators to share information about students.
