This position is full-time, Monday – Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00am – 11:00pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

We offer 4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming phone calls from members and assist them by addressing inquiries, which may include: benefit and eligibility information, billing and payment issues, customer material requests, physician assignments, authorization for treatment, and explanation of benefits (EOBs)
  • Ask appropriate questions and listen actively to identify specific questions or issues while documenting required information in computer systems
  • Using knowledge of Medicare products to accurately assess the distinct needs of different prospects, explain the differences between various products, and assist the prospect member in selecting a product that best meets their unique needs
  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone to follow up on questions, or to review current or new products and services
  • Conduct outreach to welcome new members as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR Older
  • Must have an Accident & Health Insurance Sales License that is active and in good standing in your state of residence
  • Familiarity with computers and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Ability to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00am – 11:00pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group - approved symptom screener. Soft skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to listen skillfully, collect relevant information, determine need and consult with caller to provide appropriate product to fit their needs
  • Flexibility to customize approach to meet all types of caller communication styles and personalities

The hourly range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
