Job summary

The Austin Centers for Exceptional Students in Arizona is seeking a licensed school counselor to support emotional and behavioral success across campuses in El Mirage. The counselor will provide academic advisement, prevention and intervention activities, and collaborate with families, staff, and community partners.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Social Work or Counseling, a state counseling license, and at least one year of school-based experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling is required.
• Master’s Degree is preferred.
• Must hold a state counselor license.
• 1 year experience as a counselor or social worker in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and monitor intervention strategies to increase academic success
• Assist with conflict resolution and anger management
• Provide individual and group counseling
• Provide crisis intervention
• Work with parents to facilitate support for academic and behavioral improvements
• Assist parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources
• May facilitate special interest programs (e.g. support groups, parenting groups)
• Attend IEP meetings as needed
• Build strong relationships with students, staff and families
