Position Overview: The Licensed Engineer ensures the operation and provision of utility services, including heat, water, and air conditioning, on a 24-hour basis. Responsibilities include monitoring Boiler Room, Chiller Plant, auxiliary equipment such as pumps and emergency generators, performing emergency repairs, testing emergency generators, and maintaining logs of shift activities. The role involves adjusting HVAC systems to ensure proper temperature and ventilation, monitoring associated equipment, and responding to alarms. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Schedule: 12:00 am to 8:00 am on Sunday and Monday; 8:00 am to 4:00 pm from Tuesday to Thursday; during probation, the schedule will be 8:00 am to 4:00 pm during days. The role is full-time at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least three years of experience working under a refrigeration license
  • New York City Fire Department refrigeration license
  • NYC Fire Department Certificates of Fitness for G-17/G-71 (Compressed Gases), F-60 (Fireguard), and G-60 (Torch Use of Flammable Gases) within probation

Salary Range: $48.08 - $48.62 per hour.
