Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health is seeking a Licensed Psychologist to provide psychology services in an outpatient setting as part of the Riley Early Years Program, which serves the families of high-risk infants and young children (0-5 years) after discharge from Riley Hospital for Children Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The mission of the Early Years Program is to improve the feeding, growth, and neurodevelopment outcomes of these patients by providing exceptional, personalized, and family-centered care.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • Valid Indiana Psychology license and Health Service Provider in Psychology endorsement in the state of Indiana
  • At least 2 years relevant experience conducting psychological/developmental assessment with very young children (ages 0-5)
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with the families of children with special healthcare needs.

Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

  • Special training and/or knowledge base in the following areas is preferred:
    • Normal and abnormal child development, especially as related to prematurity and other medical complexities.
    • Screening, assessment, and diagnosis of developmental delays and disabilities in young children, including familiarity with the following measures:
      • Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, 4th Edition
      • Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)
      • Screening Tool for Autism in Toddlers and Young Children (STAT)
      • TELE-ASD-PEDS (TAP)
      • Diagnostic Interview
      • Various parent-report measures of child development and behavior
    • Parent-child relationship development
    • Assessment and treatment strategies for challenging behaviors in young children
    • Assessment and treatment strategies for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders
Responsibilities

  • 0.8 FTE - Provide high-quality child assessment services for young children in the Early Years Program
    • Global Developmental assessment of medically complex young children at 2-3 years of age.
    • Autism-specific evaluation for children who have scored in the at-risk range on an autism screening tool.
    • General behavior evaluation
  • 0.2 FTE - Provide mental health intervention, caregiver support, and/or therapy services to children and families
    • Mental health support for caregivers struggling with the challenges of parenting a medically complex child.
    • Caregiver guidance and behavior management support
    • Intervene with parent mental health conditions and reactions to NICU experience as appropriate, providing individual or family therapy.
