Job summary

Canyon Ridge Hospital is seeking a compassionate Psychiatric Technician to join our multidisciplinary team. You will provide direct patient care across age groups in a secure psychiatric setting, under clinical supervision, and contribute to a safe, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include documentation, supporting group activities, and collaboration with nurses to follow hospital policies and care plans. This role requires strong communication and empathy for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Possess current, valid California LVN or PT license.
• BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Written and oral communication skills.
• Legible handwriting.
• Ability to interact effectively with clinical team and other staff.
• Organizational, problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Empathy for patients and families.
• Social skills and respect for staff and patients.
• Knowledge of 12-step treatment concepts.
• Familiarity with psychopharmacology across age groups.
• Must demonstrate ability to learn concepts within orientation and training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality direct patient care under appropriate clinical supervision for children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics with psychiatric or emotional disorders.

• Assist with groups when necessary and adhere to program specifications and hospital policies.

Canyon Ridge Hospital is currently seeking a compassionate and talented Psychiatric Technician to join our team.

Canyon Ridge Hospital has serviced the Greater Inland Empire since 1989. Canyon Ridge is a 157-bed acute, locked psychiatric facility offering services to adolescents ages 13-17, adults and older adults.

We believe in an individualized, patient-focused approach to diagnosis and treatment. For some, anxiety or drug dependence looks different from others with the same diagnoses, and in some cases, behavioral health and substance use disorders occur simultaneously. In these cases of dual diagnosis, we treat the patients in the best way possible given their specific needs.

LPTs are responsible for delivering quality direct patient care under appropriate clinical supervision, to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with psychiatric or emotional disorders; to serve actively and constructively as a member of the hospital’s multi-disciplinary treatment team, and support the hospital’s program philosophy of care. Responsible for maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment, reporting concerns to the nurse, documentation, facilitating or assisting with groups when necessary, following program specifications, and risk management. Responsible for providing direct care and performing duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures in collaboration with the nursing services team.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

• Possess current, valid California LVN or PT license.
• BLS from the American Red Cross or The American Heart Association
• Position requires written and oral communication skills
• Legible handwriting
• Ability to interact effectively with clinical team and other staff
• Organizational, problem-solving and time management skills
• Empathy for patients and their families
• Use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients
• Empathy toward patients
• Basic knowledge of 12-step treatment program
• Insight regarding denial and resistance to treatment
• Flexibility
• Telephone etiquette and customer service skills for phone and face-to-face contacts
• Skills in basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult psychiatric population
• Thorough familiarity of psychopharmacology and the use of psychotropic medications within children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population
• In the absence of these skills upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via organization’s orientation and training program
• Must be currently CPR certified through American Heart Association only
