Job summary

BHC Alhambra Hospital in Rosemead, California seeks a Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) for the night shift (NOC: 11:00 pm–7:30 am). The facility provides inpatient and behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults, with a focus on recovery and comprehensive care.

The LPT works under a Registered Nurse, providing nursing care and applying knowledge of psychiatric disorders while supporting treatment plans and patient safety.

Qualifications

Education: Vocational nursing or psychiatric technician training from an accredited program.
Experience: LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred; six months in child/adolescent development preferred.

Responsibilities

Accurately collect data for integrated assessment.
Take and record vital signs properly.
Observe changes in patient appearance, behavior and progress toward treatment goals.
Communicate changes in patient condition to the Charge Nurse.
Report signs and symptoms of infection to the Charge Nurse.

Job Description: The LPT performs under the direction of a Registered Nurse in providing nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing basic understanding of psychiatric and personality disorders.

Key Responsibilities include:

Accurately collect data needed for the appropriate portion of the integrated assessment.
Take and record vital signs properly.
Observe for, and document changes in patient’s appearance, behavior and ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the Charge Nurse.
Report signs and symptoms of infection in resident to the Charge Nurse

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education: Graduate from an accredited professional vocational school of nursing or vocational training as a psychiatric technician, preferably with education in Child and Adolescent Development.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred, with six (6) months experience in the specialized area of Child and Adolescent Development preferred.

Licensure: Licensed to practice vocational nursing from the State Board of Nursing or Psychiatric Technicians.
