++GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:++

This position is a non-competitive Civil Service position

++COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:++

This is responsible work performed within the legal limits of the nursing profession.

++TYPICAL DUTIES:++

• 1. Assists in the performance of hearing and eye tests and daily check-up of students.
• 2. Assists in rendering first aid to ill or injured students.
• 3. Checks height and weight of students.
• 4. May maintain student health records.

++FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:++

• 1. Knowledge of basic practical nursing theory and techniques.
• 2. Knowledge of common physical and mental illnesses and their obvious symptoms.
• 3. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• 4. Ability to maintain records and charts.

++MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS++

++Training and Experience:++

Successful completion of an acceptable program of practical nursing.

++Necessary Special Requirement:++

Possession of a current license, or the eligibility to be licensed, as a practical nurse by the State of New York.
