Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor for the Emergency Psychiatric Access Team. The role is part-time, night shift, split between inpatient duties at Cleveland Medical Center and telemedicine at the corporate office in Shaker Heights.

The LPC supports patients with mental health needs by providing psychosocial assessments, planning, and discharge coordination within a fast-paced, interdisciplinary setting. UH offers full benefits, parking, and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree from accredited school of Counseling required.
• LPCC license eligibility within one year of becoming a practicing LPC is preferred.
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides psychosocial assessment/intervention to patients and families.
• Collaborates with the care team using a multidisciplinary approach.
• Links patients to community resources to ensure optimal care.
• Delivers age-specific psychosocial care across all ages.

What You Will Do

• Provides psychosocial assessment / intervention to assist patients/families(including clinically complex).
• Communicates/collaborates with the work team using a multidisciplinary approach.
• Provides linkage to community resources to facilitate optimal care.
• Provides age specific care to patients/families in all age groups.
• Develops and implements a comprehensive plan based on identified psychosocial needs and/or discharge needs.
• Maintains a current working knowledge of UH network services and promotes utilization of such services.
• Provides guidance and serves as consultant to staff and other disciplines regarding complex psychosocial and/or discharge planning issues/barriers.

Work Experience

Preferred Qualifications/Position Details

The Psych Emergency Access Center is the evaluation and transfer center for the psychiatric population in all of our entity emergency departments. TheLPC performs direct evaluations to determine admission or discharge. Patients are seen both in-person and telemedicine. It is a very fast-paced environment as patients from all entities are seen within one hour of referral time. The ideal candidate will be autonomous, reliable, a critical thinker, have a crisis background, have strong passion for the psychiatric population, and be a self-starter.The position alternates between inpatient at our Cleveland Medical Center and telemedicine at our corporate office in Shaker Heights. It is 32 hours per week, night shift. The schedule is (2) 12-hour shifts (7:00p-7:30am) and (1) 8-hour shift (11:00p-7:30am) per week: Mon-Fri, with rotating weekends and holidays. Four 8-hour shifts per week will be considered.
