Job summary

The State of Missouri Department of Mental Health at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center is seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor/Counselor-In Training to provide services on an interdisciplinary team for forensic clients in a high security setting. The role emphasizes compassion, trauma-informed care, and recovery-based approaches.

Successful candidates will collaborate in treatment planning, supervise trainees when needed, and contribute to ongoing client support and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Possession of a current license to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri.
• Master's degree in Counseling or Guidance and Counseling with a minimum of 48 graduate credit hours.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of professional tasks including assessment, admission, client counseling, prognosis, placement, treatment, and/or discharge planning functions.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop treatment plans, discuss client progress, and implement possible changes in treatment strategy.
• Designs behavior modification programs for individual clients and monitors the implementation process; works with other staff members in implementing these programs; and answers questions for direct care staff concerning problem areas.
• May supervise counselors-in-training and other staff.

The State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center is looking for an positive, energetic, and caring Licensed Professional Counselor/Counselor-In Training to provide services as part of one of our innovative interdisciplinary treatment teams to mentally ill forensic clients in a high security setting. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate compassion and an ability to work in a trauma informed and recovery based environment.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of professional tasks including assessment, admission, client counseling, prognosis, placement, treatment, and/or discharge planning functions.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop treatment plans, discuss client progress, and implement possible changes in treatment strategy.
• Designs behavior modification programs for individual clients and monitors the implementation process; works with other staff members in implementing these programs; and answers questions for direct care staff concerning problem areas.
• May supervise counselors-in-training and other staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of a current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Counselor in the State of Missouri.
• Or A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling or Guidance and Counseling with a minimum of 48 earned graduate credit hours.
