Role Description

The Licensed Professional Counselor will provide individual and group counseling services to clients in the Washington DC–Baltimore area, using evidence-based approaches aligned with the practice’s mission of empowerment and self-directed growth. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing treatment plans, facilitating therapeutic sessions, maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, and collaborating with other providers as needed. The counselor will also support clients in setting and monitoring goals, identifying coping strategies, and accessing community resources, while maintaining strict confidentiality and ethical standards. This is a contract role with a hybrid work arrangement, combining in-person sessions in the Washington DC–Baltimore area with some work-from-home flexibility for telehealth services and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• Current independent or associate-level counseling license (e.g., LPC, LCPC, LGPC, or equivalent) in the applicable Washington DC–Baltimore jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated experience providing individual and/or group counseling, including intake assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing therapeutic intervention.
• Knowledge of evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, or solution-focused therapy, with the ability to tailor approaches to client needs.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain a nonjudgmental, client-centered environment.
• Ability to maintain accurate clinical records, manage caseloads, and use electronic health record or telehealth platforms responsibly.
• Commitment to ethical practice, cultural humility, and serving clients from diverse backgrounds and identities.
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field from an accredited institution.
• Prior experience in outpatient, private practice, or community mental health settings is preferred; bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
