Job summary

Sentara Medical Group Surgery Specialists is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our physician practice team in Norfolk, VA. This full-time, days position offers a sign-on bonus up to $8,000 for qualified candidates and supports providers with direct patient care in ambulatory settings.

The LPN will room patients, take vital signs, administer medications and immunizations, collect specimens, document in the EHR, and educate patients. Experience in ambulatory care is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited practical nursing program leading to LPN/LVN eligibility is required.
• Current, unencumbered state Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) license is required.
• Successful completion of the NCLEX-PN examination is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure vital signs, administer medications and immunizations.
• Collect blood specimens and perform simple diagnostic tests.
• Prepare patients and rooms for examinations and assist with procedures.
• Provide patient education and follow-up instructions within scope.
• Document accurately in the electronic health record to support continuity of care.

The role rooms patients, gathers and records health information, measures vital signs, administers medications and immunizations, collects blood specimens, and performs simple diagnostic tests. The LPN prepares patients and rooms for examinations, assists with procedures, and provides patient education and follow-up instructions within scope. Working closely with the care team, the LPN helps manage patient flow, responds to messages and refill requests under provider direction, and may direct the work of medical assistants and aides.
