Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Charge nurse and/or Registered nurse, performs the primary function of a licensed practical nurse in providing care to patients in need of wound care services. The LPN is responsible for meeting standards of Wound Care practice set forth by regulatory agencies & nursing practice in the management of all assigned patients; assists medical staff with the implementation of wound treatment plans; essential in collaborating with other healthcare providers in the review of performance improvement activities and acts within the guidelines of federal & state laws, Joint Commission standards, and professional & ethical practice.

Additional Job Description

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited vocational/technical LPN course required.
  • Completion of an accredited wound care course/training preferred.

Experience:

  • 2 years medical surgical nursing or medical office experience required
  • Knowledge of wound related products & procedures required

Licensure/ Certification:

  • Active LPN license to work in South Carolina required
  • Current BLS required
  • Certification in Wound Care preferred

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking (Continuous). Ability to climb stairs, work indoors, and outdoors in temperature extremes (Infrequent). Ability to work from elevated areas and in confined/cramped spaces (Frequent). Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted (Infrequent). Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes (Continuous). Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations (Continuous). Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required (Frequent).
