Job Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse in Acute Care (LPN) provides patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The LPN plays an integral role in the physical and emotional comfort of patients and their families. The LPN provides direct patient care in collaboration with other healthcare team members and completes tasks to support patient care. The scope of practice for LPNs is determined by the NYS Education Department, Highland Hospital Nursing Policy, and the New York State Office of Professions.

Level II requirements include providing preceptorship for new hire PCTs or LPNs, completing annual training on preceptor enrichment, gerontology, and earning continuing education credits.
