Job summary

Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) is seeking a licensed practical nurse to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist in gathering data, participate in planning and updating care plans, and document care in the medical record.

Responsibilities include administering medications, preparing patients for tests, initiating emergency measures when needed, educating patients and families, and collaborating with interdisciplinary team to support

Qualifications

• Knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Maryland LPN license or registration as required.
• CPR certification (not required for Hospice employee).

• Educates patients and families; documents outcomes in the medical record.
• Initiates emergency measures when patient's condition dictates need.
• Prepares patients for tests and procedures.
• Administers and documents medications according to policy and procedure.
• Can appropriately delegate care to non-licensed personnel and report to the RN.
• Reports to the RN with concise reports on patient condition changes or intervention outcomes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Skills

• Interpersonal skills, communication (verbal and written) are required in order to instruct and comfort patients and their families and maintain effective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel and maintain appropriate/adequate documentation.
• Ability to perform and plan professional nursing care resolving complex patient care problems and dealing with patients and their families often during stressful situations.

Licensures, Certifications

• Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification) - not required for Hospice employee.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk almost constantly (up to 90% of work time) and occasionally (up to 50% of work time) lifting and positioning patients.

Working Conditions

• Normal patient care environment with exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
• Possibly exposed to adverse working conditions due to performance of patient care activities and exposure to communicable diseases.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  Pay Range

  $22.27 - $34.49

  Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
