Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Relocation assistance is available.

The 7 South Neurosurgical/Orthopedic unit serves adult and geriatric patients on a track schedule. 1:5 patient ratio. If you are a motivated nurse with compassion, you will fit well here and contribute to high-quality patient outcomes.

Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department 2 South Surgical Job Family Nursing Work Shift Summary Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN responsible for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse

Major Job Functions

• Participates in assessment of patient
• Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
• Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
• Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
• Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
• Administers medication as ordered by physician
• Facilitates a safe environment
• Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
• Maintains required competencies
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
• Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
• Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
• Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
• Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Education and Formal Training: High school graduate or equivalent required
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure
• Unit Description: 7 South is a 25 Bed Neurosurgical/Orthopedic Unit consisting of adult and geriatric patients, working on a track schedule. Patient ratio 1:5. Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistant's, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists. New Graduate Nurses are accepted and welcome!
• Work Experience: 1-2 years of related clinical experience preferred.
• Orthopedic/Neurosurgical General & Podiatry surgery Wound care Surgical Drains Trauma, Vascular, Cardio monitoring PCA Pump, and Telemetry required.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills Verbal and written skills required Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served
• Physical Requirements: Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs Visual acuity for observation of patients Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
• Required Licenses and Certifications BLS - American Heart Association, RN - Board Of Nursing
