Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care on a night rotation. You will monitor vital signs, administer medications, perform wound care, and support physicians and RNs to ensure safe, high-quality care.

This role requires graduation from an approved Maryland practical nursing program, current Maryland LPN licensure, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as an LPN by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses is required.
• Graduation from an Maryland-approved Practical Nursing Education Program is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, performing wound care, obtaining specimens for laboratory examinations, and carrying out provider orders for routine treatments.
• Monitors patients for changes in condition and promptly reports concerns to supervising clinicians.
• Collects patient health information and documents assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.
• Assists RNs and providers with examinations, procedures, and treatment plans.
• Provides patient and family education regarding treatments, medications, and care plans.
• Maintains infection control standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinates with interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Maintains medical supplies, equipment, and inventory as needed.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider (MD, NP, PA, etc.). This role is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical support, ensuring patient safety, and promoting wellness through skilled nursing practices, education, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Work Experience
