The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care and supports the medical and clinical team at the mental health and substance abuse facility in Knoxville, TN. This role ensures quality care for patients in our Residential facility which is 24/7 nursing facility. This role includes administering medications, monitoring patient progress, and maintaining medical records while adhering to all healthcare compliance and safety standards. Nurses are required to work 12 hours shifts on a rotating schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care & Clinical Support:
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
- Assist with patient intake, including conducting physical assessments and recording vital signs.
- Provide wound care, injections, and other medical interventions under the supervision of an RN or physician.
- Support crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques in collaboration with the clinical team.
- Medical Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Ensure all medical procedures and documentation comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and state/federal regulations.
- Assist with medication reconciliation and inventory management.
- Team Collaboration & Patient Education:
- Work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, and case managers to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients on medication adherence, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review patient progress.
- Infection Control & Safety Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Infection Control Designee, ensuring infection prevention protocols are followed throughout the facility.
- Conduct staff training on infection control measures and assist in audits to maintain compliance.
- Monitor and report any potential infection risks, ensuring timely intervention.

Qualifications:
- Licensure: Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Tennessee, in good standing.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in mental health, behavioral health, or substance abuse treatment.
- Familiarity with psychiatric medications and detox protocols is a plus.
- Certifications:
- CPR/BLS certification required.
- Skills:
- Strong documentation and KIPU EMR preferred but will be train.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication and crisis management skills.
- Must be reliable and able to work independently.
- Based at the North Knoxville,TN facility, with direct interaction with patients and staff.
- Will require flexibility in scheduling, including some evenings or weekends.
