Job description

Meet new challenges and make a significant difference in a diverse population! The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is seeking dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses.

As part of the Healthcare Team, you will provide quality care to the offender population, applying clinical skills, performing assessments, and assisting practitioners and RNs. Responsibilities include initial screenings, medication administration, emergency response, and health assessments. You will also ensure compliance, participate in training, and may educate staff and offenders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time, 40 hours/week.
• Shifts cover 24/7 operation: 1st shift 6:00 am–2:30 pm, 2nd shift 2:00 pm–10:30 pm, 3rd shift 10:00 pm–6:30 am. Hours are subject to change.
• Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework is not available.
• Starting salary is $66,076.00 for new employees.

Qualifications:

Special Requirements:

• Active PA license as a Practical Nurse.
• Must obtain licensure within one year if holding a temporary permit.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency is waived for this position.
• Applicants within 60 days of completing an approved nursing program may apply; must show proof of licensure at appointment.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA, is required.
• You must be able to perform essential functions.
