Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse assigned to the Primary Care Center administers nursing care to outpatients and is responsible for delivering patient care through planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves working under the direction of registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or physicians, maintaining departmental policies, quality improvement, safety, and infection control standards, and ensuring confidentiality of hospital information.

Responsibilities

Education

• Graduate of school of practical nursing
• Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse licensure

Experience

• Preferred occupational health or infection control experience
• Preferred pediatrics, OB/GYN, or medicine experience depending on site services
• Preferred 6 months outpatient experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to work well under stress and with frequent interruptions
• Regular attendance is essential

Working Conditions

• Potential exposure to infections, contagious diseases, and unpleasant patient elements; handles emergency or crisis situations; subject to interruptions and irregular hours; may handle toxic chemicals; physical effort involved in lifting/carrying 50+ lbs; flexibility required
