Job summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at UVM Health - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY supports intake and processing of patients, and provides simple patient care under the direction of the OHW RN Coordinator. The LPN coordinates health care services for injured employees of the UVM Health Network-CVPH and contracted employers.

AHA-BLS certification is required within 6 months of hire; additional required certifications may be pursued.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current New York State licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• AHA-BLS certification required within 6 months of hire; existing non-AHA-BLS card allowed until renewal.
• Two years medical office or primary care experience preferred.
• 1-2 years medical/surgical experience preferred.
• Ability to function as part of a team; excellent telephone, written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must obtain CAOHC, DOT Breath Alcohol Testing, DOT Drug Screening, Rapid Drug Screening Training and Clinitek Training within specified timeframes; certifications within 6–24 months.

Job description

Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period, all applicants will be considered equally.

Primary Shift: 0800-1630

Secondary Shifts: 0700-1530, 0730-1600

General Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse has responsibilities that include intake, processing of patients, simple patient treatment as directed by the professional staff. Under the direction of the OHW RN Coordinator, the LPN is responsible for the coordination of the health care services of injured employees of UVM Health Network-CVPH and contracted community employers. AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is not a qualifying factor to obtain the position.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
• AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal.
• Two (2) years previous medical office experience or primary care experience preferred.
• 1-2 years of medical/surgical experience preferred.
• Ability to function as an integral part of a team.
• Excellent telephone skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must be detail oriented and organized.
• Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening.
• Must obtain the following certifications within the identified time frames. CAOHC Certification within 2 years of hire, DOT Breath Alcohol Testing, DOT Drug Screening, Rapid Drug Screening Training and Clinitek Training within 6 months of hire and maintain annual competency.
• Spirometry, Physical Abilities, and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Certifications preferred.
