Job summary

Valleywise Health in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (Psychiatric) to join our inpatient behavioral health team. Under the nurse manager’s direction, you will provide skilled, age-specific nursing care in collaboration with physicians and other disciplines.

Responsibilities include supportive nursing, secretarial and technical services under the supervision of an RN, with emphasis on crisis prevention and effective communication in a diverse patient population.

Qualifications

• Requires graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse training program.
• Prefer at least one year of nursing-related experience in inpatient behavioral health.
• Must be able to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Age 18 or 21 with licensure as per Arizona rules.
• Must have crisis prevention and intervention training.
• Requires valid Practical Nurse licensure by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and BLS certification within three months.

Under the nurse manager's or designee's direction, the nurseprovides professional, skilled, age-specific nursing care for patients in collaboration with physicians and other disciplines. Using professional skills and behaviors promotes comprehensive, cost-effective, and meaningful healthcare for consumers in a diverse healthcare environment. Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs nursing, secretarial, and technical-related services for the inpatient behavioral health population.

Hourly Pay Rate: $22.19 - $32.73

Qualifications

Education:

• Requires graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse training program.

Experience:

• Prefer at least one (1) year of nursing-related experience in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
• Must have the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code R9-10-306 CHAPTER 10 of the Dept. of Health Services, personnel must be at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of ageand licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32 and providing services within the personnel member's scope of practice.

Specialized Training:

• Must have crisis prevention and intervention training.

Certification/Licensure:

• Requires valid licensure as a Practical Nurse, which is issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
• Requires a BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center within three months.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
• Requires excellent communication and time management skills.
