Job summary

Valleywise Behavioral Health Center is seeking a Psychiatric Registered Nurse to support inpatient and adolescent/adult populations. You will supervise staff, plan and evaluate patient care, and contribute to a robust therapeutic program in a secure, respectful setting.

Under the Nurse Manager, you will lead care coordination, training, and a collaborative interdisciplinary approach while advancing education alongside students and residents in our academic medical environment.

Qualifications

• Prefer a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing.
• Must have a minimum of two years of clinical experience relevant to psychiatric care.
• Must possess an AZ RN license/compact license in current practice state.
• Must have CPI certification; BLS training provided on hire.

Valleywise Behavioral Health Center has inpatient facilities in Mesa, Phoenix, and Maryvale, and is one of the largest providers of inpatient behavioral health services in Arizona. We serve adolescent and adult populations. The adolescent unit is located in Mesa with a 14-bed unit specializing in caring for patients between the ages of 13 to 17. We have a large medical staff of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, with dedicated physician leadership at each of our inpatient facilities.

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, this position supervises, assesses plans, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates patient care and staff development. Provides comprehensive care based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit. The position demonstrates the professional skills and behaviors to promote comprehensive, cost-effective, and meaningful healthcare for consumers in a diverse healthcare environment. This position is a leader and resource within the department for daily operations and demonstrates and promotes alliance with organizational goals and department leadership.

Hourly Pay Range: $41.56 - $61.30

Qualifications Education

Prefer a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing.

Experience

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience relevant to the patient populations and/or scope of practice.

Demonstrated leadership ability is a plus.

Certification/Licensure

Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license, temporary AZ RN license, or valid compact RN licensure for current state of practice.

Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing.

• Must have a CPI certification and BLS training will be provided upon hire or transfer to Behavioral Health Departments.

In addition, certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice:

BH Unit 2 Adolescent: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.

Knowledge of basic computer skills is preferred.

Ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.
