• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and request the assistance of the RN when necessary.
• Ability to multi-task, display decision-making and critical thinking skills, and basic computer skills.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide direct nursing care to patients with a behavioral health disorder based on a systematized body of knowledge. Oversees care provided by Behavioral Health Technicians with the 24/7 Forensics Treatment Program residency housing program . The LPN will utilize nursing process including assessment, identification of nursing problems, planning, execution, evaluation and modification of nursing interventions as determined by patient outcomes. Acknowledges, coordinates and implements diagnostic and therapeutic orders. Assures patient safety through safe administration of medications, prevention of violent behavior, patient injury, and infection control. Participates as a contributing member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Participates in Quality Improvement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Psychiatric residential housing facility. Fast-paced team approach. Multi-tasking, requiring above average time management skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Abilities in reaching, bending, talking, sitting, carrying, standing, grasping, eye hand dexterity, ability to hear, ability to read and write, and the ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to reach with arms and hands, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone. May be required to complete standing presentations involving speaking and listening to audience.
