Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Per Diem Licensed Practical Nurse (Medical) for Garden State Youth Correctional Facility, located in Yardville, NJ.

The primary purpose of this position is to, in accordance with professional nursing standards, administer total patient care based on the individualized needs of patients and families. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides technical nursing care, performs treatments and procedures within guidelines, and ensures a safe environment.

Key Duties

• Participate in data collection related to patient status and needs, and communicate relevant information to the RN for care planning.
• Provide direct patient care within scope of practice to implement the care plan.
• Instruct patients/significant others on health/illness and care plans.
• Assist in discharge planning and health maintenance at home.
• Document all aspects of patient care.

• Salary: $29.00/hr

Qualifications

• Valid NJ LPN registration
• CPR Certification
• Valid Driver's License and own transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 6 months of experience in an acute hospital setting (preferred)

Physical Demands & Environment

Must perform CPR for at least 10 minutes, assist with lifting and rotating patients up to 50 pounds.

Special Conditions

Must be approved by the Department of Corrections and comply with all requirements.
