Job description

PCU Expanded Practice Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Full Time Days

Position: LPN

As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Reports to: The Director of their assigned department

FLSA: Non-exempt

Education: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.

Licenses: Current state LPN license or multistate compact license; must possess an associate degree from an accredited nursing school.

Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 30 days of hire.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Essential Functions
  1. Under the direction of an RN or Med-Surge Charge Nurse, contribute to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
  2. Perform plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Document patient care given.
  3. Assist RN with development of plan of care.
  4. Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  5. Monitor, document, and communicate patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
  6. Work as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
