Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide high-quality nursing care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. The role includes assisting with procedures, collecting data, and coordinating tests and appointments.

Minimum qualifications include an LPN license, a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, and required background clearances. Preferred candidates may have 1 year of healthcare experience and IV course certification.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current state licensure as an LPN or current multi-state licensure through eNLC.
  • CPR certification (American Heart Association).
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate, Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate, Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general nursing care in accordance with nursing practice standards.
  • Assists with preparation of equipment and assists physician/clinical provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Collects assessment data and prepares patient for examination; documents clinical information in the patient record.
  • Orders diagnostic tests as directed and gathers/examines results prior to physician/clinical provider assessment.
  • Schedules procedures and obtains necessary authorizations.
  • May administer injections or medications and collect specimens for testing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job provides quality care to patients and families to promote health and prevent disease under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs general nursing care in accordance with nursing practice standards. (30%)
  • Assists with the preparation of equipment and assists the physician/clinical provider during treatment, examination and testing of patients. (20%)
  • Collects assessment data, prepares patient for examination and documents clinical information on patient record. (20%)
  • Orders diagnostic tests as directed by registered nurse or physician/clinical provider and gathers diagnostic tests and/or examines results prior to physician/clinical provider assessment. (20%)
  • Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations as necessary. (5%)
  • May give injections or medication, collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, and prepare them for testing. (5%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
  • High school diploma/ GED or equivalent.
  • Current state licensure as an LPN OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
  • CPR - American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Preferred
  • 1 year healthcare experience.
  • State approved IV course certification.
  • Knowledge of OASIS documentation and assessment process.
  • PALS or ACLS may be required based on the specific area of practice.
