Job summary

UPMC Williamsport is seeking a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse for our Orthopedics Office, with day shifts from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and no weekend or major holidays. The role provides direct nursing care for office patients, including blood draws, medication administration, and assisting physicians.

A sign-on bonus is offered: $5,000 for graduates and $7,500 for experienced nurses with a two-year commitment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
• Current LPN license in-state or valid multi-state (NLC).
• BLS/CPR certification required; CPR per AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
• One year clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood.
• Administer medications by oral, SQ, IM and IV.
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures.
• Take vital signs and assess patient condition.
• Document care in the medical record and maintain confidentiality.
• Uphold facility policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA/CLIA/Health Dept).

• Hours: Regular Full-Time | 40 hours / week
• Shift: Days | 8:00 am - 4:30 pm | Monday - Friday | No weekends or major holidays
• Sign-On Bonus: Graduate Nurse $5,000 and Experienced Nurse (one year or more of experience) $7,500 for a two year commitment.

Purpose

Provides professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood.
• Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
• Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
• Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
• Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
• Comply with all policies and procedures.
• Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
• Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
• Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
• Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
• Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
• One year clinical experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• Act 34
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
