Shift: 7am - 7:30pm
Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (charge nurse), provides nursing care to patients. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with procedures and examinations, administering non-emergent medications, helping patients with activities of daily living, and instructing patients and families on appropriate care.
The LPN collaborates with registered nurses to assess patient responses to treatments, contributes to care planning, and supports patient education. All care must adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, with accurate documentation. The LPN prioritizes work, recognizes abnormalities, and reports them to the RN. Demonstrating required competencies, contributing to quality improvement, and ongoing personal development are essential. The LPN fulfills responsibilities aligned with the mission of St. Joseph Health Services of RI.
Licensure: Current RI LPN licensure required.
Experience: None required.
Skills and Abilities:
Working Conditions and Safety: Visual acuity, hand dexterity, and physical ability to perform body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting (over 30 lbs), standing, walking, twisting, stretching, and reaching are required.
