Job summary

The New York State Department of Health seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to work at the Montrose Veterans Home. Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will perform nursing care tasks per individual treatment plans and scope of practice to maintain health and alleviate suffering.

Minimum qualifications include NYS LPN licensure or eligible for limited permit, and transfer eligibility for NYS service. Per diem, temporary position with weekend and holiday requirements.

Qualifications

• Current NYS Licensed Practical Nurse with active registration.
• Minimum one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a position at Grade 8 or above, eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.
• Open Competitive HELPS qualifications: NYS LPN license, limited permit, or application on file.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care under supervision to residents per treatment plans.
• Maintain health, prevent illness, alleviate suffering using knowledge of health processes and facility procedures.
• Work one weekend a month and one of the major winter and summer holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

• Reassignment: New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Montrose employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 8 or above, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Open Competitive HELPS qualifications: A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; or a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; or an application on file for a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.

Preferred Qualifications

• The preferred candidate will have experience working with with geriatric population.

Additional Comments

Scheduled based on staffing needs. Required to work one weekend a month and one of the major winter and summer holidays.

One per diem, temporary position.
