POSITION SUMMARY

To support, implement, and monitor nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:

  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:

Patient Care Delivery

Equipment and Skills Training:

Ability to work well under pressure, function dependently and independently, and be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge across various settings. Equipment includes Order Entry Computer System, Telemetry, AT&T Language Line, Omnicell Medication System.

Physical Environment:

A medical/surgical unit serving patients from less than one year to over ninety-nine years of age.

Physical Effort:

  • Prolonged standing and working up to twelve hours a day.
  • Push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  • Lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
  • Communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.

Performance Standards

  1. Revise patient care plans based on individual needs, diagnoses, standards of care, interventions, and outcomes.
  2. Assist with patient teaching, discharge planning, and post-discharge needs.
  3. Perform treatments, procedures, and operate equipment independently according to policies and competency assessments.
  4. Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer solutions safely following policies.
  5. Monitor and report patient conditions, evaluate responses, and modify care plans promptly.
  6. Document accurately and timely.
  7. Create a healing and therapeutic environment.
  8. Maintain position-specific qualifications.
  9. Support staff development.
  10. Ensure effective communication.
  11. Maintain a professional appearance and a safe, clean work environment.
