Shift: Varies; 8-36 hours weekly

Location: Float; Rome, Cedartown, Calhoun, Adairsville, and Chatsworth areas; All specialties (Coverage areas will be determined based on home location)

The role you’ll contribute:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the direct supervision of the physician or mid-level licensed provider, assisting with safe and effective patient care in compliance with established standards and protocols of Gordon Physicians Group, Gordon Hospital, and Adventist Health Systems' goals and objectives. Responsibilities include routine back-office functions such as maintaining patient flow, exam room preparation and turnover, recording medical history, and assisting physicians and/or nurses. Additional duties include managing provider/nurse messages, appointment scheduling, prescription refills, and ensuring clinical compliance with sterilization, medication oversight, OSHA, and other standards.

  • Practice in accordance with the Georgia Nurse Practice Act and law.
  • Maintain general mandatories established by Gordon Hospital and clinic-specific standards.
  • Uphold legal and ethical practices, serve as a patient advocate, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate and provide quality patient-focused care, overseeing daily back-office operations with support staff.
  • Ensure patient comfort in the exam room.
  • Perform EHR intake, including medication lists, allergies, vital signs, and complaints.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and treatments, maintaining accessibility.
  • Support office surgeries with sterile procedures and appropriate setup.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree or equivalent specific to Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Georgia State Licensure as a Practical Nurse
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficiency attained via on-the-job training and orientation within 3 months
  • Minimum six (6) months experience in a medical office
