Job summary

Western Home Communities is seeking a caring Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our award-winning team in Iowa. This part-time, 3rd shift role requires compassionate care, accurate medication administration, and collaboration with physicians, supervisors, and family members to support residents.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a state board-approved nursing program
• Currently licensed in Iowa
• Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain it
• This is an hourly position; ability to work weekends and holidays as required/needed
• Exceptional attendance

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicates resident needs with physicians and immediate supervisor
• Maintains awareness of the condition of all residents under their care
• Administers medications, treatments, and physician orders accurately and takes responsibility for resident care
• Confers with Director of Nursing on care plans and workload management
• Coordinates admission planning and involves families in care decisions
• Provides emotional and physical comfort and safety to residents and support to families
• Supervises and assists certified nursing assistants

What you'll do as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

• Effectively communicates resident needs with physicians and immediate supervisor
• Maintains awareness of the condition of all residents under their care
• Accurately administers all medications, treatments, and physician orders; taking ultimate responsibility for resident care
• Confers with Director of Nursing on an ongoing basis with special problems of care, resident transfers, management of workload, etc.
• Coordinates preparation and planning of resident admission; giving proper recognition to the real and potential contribution of family and others in planning nursing care
• Provides for emotional and physical comfort and safety of residents, and emotional support to families
• Supervises, assists, consults with, and teaches certified nursing assistants

What you'll need as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

• Graduate of a state board-approved school
• Currently licensed in Iowa
• Current in CPR certification or willing to achieve it
