Job summary

Western Home Communities in Iowa is seeking a caring Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our award-winning team. You will effectively communicate resident needs with physicians and the immediate supervisor, and you will be responsible for administering medications and treatments with careful attention to resident safety.

As an hourly, full-time LPN, you will coordinate admissions with families and care teams, provide emotional support to residents and families, and supervise certified nursing

Qualifications

• Graduate of a state board-approved school.
• Currently licensed as an LPN in Iowa.
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain it.
• This is an hourly position; weekend and holiday work may be required.
• Exceptional attendance is expected.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicates resident needs with physicians and supervisor.
• Maintains awareness of the condition of all residents under care.
• Administers medications and treatments as ordered; assumes responsibility for resident care.
• Holds ongoing discussions with the Director of Nursing on care, transfers and workload.
• Coordinates admission planning with families and care teams.
• Provides emotional and physical comfort and safety to residents; supports families.
• Supervises and assists certified nursing assistants.

What you'll do as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):

• Effectively communicates resident needs with physicians and immediate supervisor
• Maintains awareness of the condition of all residents under their care
• Accurately administers all medications, treatments, and physician orders; taking ultimate responsibility for resident care
• Confers with Director of Nursing on an ongoing basis with special problems of care, resident transfers, management of workload, etc.
• Coordinates preparation and planning of resident admission; giving proper recognition to the real and potential contribution of family and others in planning nursing care
• Provides for emotional and physical comfort and safety of residents, and emotional support to families
• Supervises, assists, consults with, and teaches certified nursing assistants

What you'll need as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):

• Graduate of a state board-approved school
• Currently licensed in Iowa
• Current in CPR certification or willing to achieve it
• This is an hourly position, which means you must be able and willing to work weekends and holidays as required/needed
