We are in search of an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a full-time position in our Toledo and Maumee Facilities! The individual will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Charge Nurses.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Qualifications:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for all aspects of nursing care including but not limited to: nursing assessment, treatment plan development, ASAM admission criteria, daily assessments, medication administration, and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the client in coordination with the attending physician, ARNP, Clinical Treatment Team, and Chief Nursing Officer.

  • 1+ years of experience as an LPN in a detox or similar treatment facility environment
  • State LPN license in good standing
  • Maintains current CPR certification
  • Detox and Psychiatric Nursing experience required
  • Experienced in administering medication orally, subcutaneously, and IM
  • Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal pain and critically dangerous medical emergencies and respond appropriately
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to respond physically and swiftly to patient emergencies
  • Able to respond calmly and timely during emergency situations
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria preferred
  • Familiarity with JCAHO Standards of Care for Behavioral Health
  • Electronic Health Record experience
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Duties:

The Detox Nurse guides patients through their detox process per the physician's orders, educates patients about their conditions, and assists physicians and ARNPs with clinical reporting. Responsibilities include nursing assessments at intake, discharge nursing actions, and routine reports for insurance purposes. The position involves proper medication administration, reconciliation, storage, and security. The Detox Nurse reports to the Chief Nursing Officer. Specific tasks include:

  • Administer prescribed medications
  • Make independent patient care decisions within scope of license
  • Inform the Chief Nursing Officer/Charge Nurse and Medical Director of decisions made
  • Monitor and record patient care aspects using our Electronic Health System, including:

- Nursing assessments during intake

- Shift assessments such as CIWA and COWS

- Changes in patient condition and progress updates

- Discharge assessments and paperwork

- Follow infection control precautions and policies

- Reconcile medications at shift end, maintaining logs of controlled substances

  • Ensure proper communication during shift changes for continuity of care
